Amara Abdalla al-Khatabi, editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Al-Umma, was arrested in December 2012, a month after his paper published a lsit of 84 judges allegedly involved in corruption.
Amara Abdalla al-Khatabi is 67 years old and faces up to 15 years in prison. He is a prisoner of conscience.
He has been on hunger strike since 28 February and was transferred to a hospital on 4 April.
On 1 April, a court barred his lawyer from representing him, in breach of his right to a fair trial.
On 7 April, his wife declared an open-ended hunger strike in protest at his continued detention.
