Azza Hilal Ahmad Suleiman, 49, is fighting for justice after Egyptian army soldiers attacked her.
The vicious attack left her with a fractured skull and she now suffers from memory problems.
On 17 December 2011, Azza Hilal Ahmad Suleiman and a male friend were part of a large protest near Tahrir Square. Soldiers attacked the protesters, who fled.
As she began to leave, Azza Hilal Ahmad Suleiman saw a group of soldiers beating a young woman and removing her clothes. With her friend and other protesters, she tried to carry the young woman away.
The soldiers knocked Azza Hilal Ahmad Suleiman to the ground and an army officer shot her friend in the knee.They beat Azza Hilal Ahmad Suleiman severely, continuing even after she lost consciousness.The incident was recorded and the video posted on the internet by activists.
Azza Hilal Ahmad Suleiman woke in hospital, where doctors treated her for a fractured skull.
Her bed sheets needed to be changed repeatedly because they were soaked with blood.
In spite of the official complaint she lodged, the Egyptian authorities have not held anyone to account for attacking her and they have not given her any remedy, such as compensation or rehabilitation, to help her to recover.
