Alternative housing granted to families facing a very harsh winter.
Ten households of Building #3 in Ulaanbaatar, who had been exposed to extreme weather without adequate housing, have been provided with alternative housing. Lundeejantsan, who moved out of the building on 17 October, has sent enthusiastic thanks to Amnesty activists for their support:
“I got a two room apartment which is warm and cozy and I am living with my daughter’s family. This could not happen without help of Amnesty. I am very grateful.”
While we welcome this relocation, there are still others from Building #3 without access to adequate housing and there are no effective safeguards in place to prevent others from suffering the same fate. Amnesty International will monitor the situation.
